GLP-1 therapy with the whole body in view.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are among the most effective weight-management medications studied. They are also prescription drugs with real risks. This guide covers both, plus the nutrition and muscle protocol most people skip.

What these medications do

GLP-1 receptor agonists mimic a gut hormone that slows stomach emptying, signals fullness to the brain, and improves insulin response. Tirzepatide adds a second hormone pathway (GIP). In clinical trials of the approved brand products, average weight loss ranged from roughly 15 to 21 percent of body weight over 68 to 72 weeks, alongside diet and exercise. Compounded versions are prepared by licensed 503A pharmacies for an individual patient on a clinician's prescription; they are not FDA-approved and have not been evaluated by FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality.

What a naturopathic approach adds

  • Protein and muscle first. Rapid weight loss includes lean mass. NDs typically set a daily protein target and a resistance-training minimum before the first dose. Our protocol shop has the scale and journal most use to track it.
  • Gut tolerance. Nausea is the most common reason people quit. Smaller meals, ginger, hydration with electrolytes, and slower titration (the clinician's call) are the usual first-line tools.
  • Root causes alongside. Sleep, thyroid, cortisol, and insulin resistance work-ups happen in parallel, so the medication is a bridge rather than a permanent crutch.
  • An exit plan. Discuss from day one how you taper and what habits hold the result.

Who should not use GLP-1s

Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2, history of pancreatitis, pregnancy or planning pregnancy, and several other conditions are contraindications or cautions. This is exactly why a licensed clinician evaluates you first. Nothing here replaces that evaluation.

What it costs

Published prices for the same compounded medication vary widely. One independent 2026 survey of 353 provider prices put compounded tirzepatide's median near $255 a month, with semaglutide typically lower. First-month promotions often look far cheaper than the ongoing rate. Our price table lists only ongoing rates we can source, visit included.

How access works legally

You complete an intake and a visit (we prefer live video) with a clinician licensed in your state. If they prescribe, a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy prepares the medication for you and ships it. There is no legal path that skips the clinician. Sites offering GLP-1s "for research only" are selling unapproved drugs; we do not list them.
